Abstract
The GPM Kusu Kusu Sereh Congregation sits in a highland region rich in natural springs that serve as a primary water catchment for Ambon, supplying providers such as PDAM Ambon. This study asks how the congregation theologically interprets its identity within this ecologically abundant context and what eco-ecclesiological framework can shape a contextually conscious ministry. Unlike most eco-ecclesiological scholarship, which responds to environmental crisis, this study offers a constructive, preventive perspective grounded in ecological abundance. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were gathered through observation and in-depth interviews with three informant groups distinguished by their access to water sources. Findings show that the congregation understands water mainly in material and domestic terms rather than as a theological object of care. The study argues for a systematic eco-ecclesiological renewal in the congregation's identity, liturgy, and ministry programs, proposing that becoming a Guardian of the Springs is a genuine theological vocation grounded in ecological koinonia, ecological diakonia, and martyria expressed through concrete ecological action.
