Tipologi Klaim Kesinambungan Rasuli: Analisis Komparatif atas Cara Berbagai Tradisi Gereja Melegitimasi Keterhubungannya dengan Jemaat Perdana

Abstract

Every church tradition faces the same problem, namely the twenty centuries separating it from the primitive community, and every tradition claims legitimate connection to that community. Indonesian ecclesiological literature has so far described church traditions phenomenologically and historically but has not analyzed the legitimation mechanisms each tradition employs using a single common instrument. This study constructs a typology of apostolic continuity claims through comparative analysis of primary sources from the Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, Lutheran, Reformed, Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, and contemporary apostolic traditions. The study employs five analytical dimensions: the locus of apostolicity, the mechanism of transmission, the temporal model, the criterion of validity, and the treatment of discontinuity. The study identifies four types of claim, namely institutional, textual, experiential, and structural-functional continuity. Its principal finding is that all four types share an identical formal structure and differ only in the content of their bridging claim, so no single type occupies a position that entitles it to adjudicate the others.

Abstrak

Setiap tradisi gereja menghadapi persoalan yang sama, yaitu jarak dua puluh abad yang memisahkannya dari jemaat perdana, dan setiap tradisi mengajukan klaim bahwa dirinya terhubung secara sah dengan jemaat tersebut. Literatur eklesiologi berbahasa Indonesia sejauh ini mendeskripsikan aliran-aliran gereja secara fenomenologis dan historis, tetapi belum menganalisis mekanisme legitimasi yang digunakan oleh masing-masing tradisi dengan menggunakan perangkat yang konsisten. Penelitian ini menyusun tipologi klaim kesinambungan rasuli melalui analisis komparatif terhadap sumber primer dari tradisi Katolik, Ortodoks, Anglikan, Lutheran, Reformed, Baptis, Metodis, Pentakosta, dan Apostolik kontemporer. Lima dimensi analisis digunakan, yaitu lokus keapostolikan, mekanisme transmisi, model waktu, kriteria keabsahan, dan penanganan diskontinuitas. Penelitian ini menemukan empat tipe klaim, yaitu kesinambungan institusional, tekstual, pengalaman, dan struktural-fungsional. Temuan utamanya adalah bahwa keempat tipe berbagi struktur formal yang identik dan berbeda hanya pada isi klaim jembatannya, sehingga tidak satu tipe pun berada dalam posisi untuk menghakimi tipe lain.
