Abstract

The era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 presents complex challenges for theological education in responding to rapid social, cultural, and technological changes. This study aims to examine the role of empowering leadership in fostering innovation in theological education and in developing graduate competencies relevant to the digital era. Using a qualitative approach grounded in a systematic literature review, this research analyzes academic sources on leadership theory, educational innovation, digital transformation, and graduate formation in religious higher education institutions. The findings indicate that empowering leadership plays a strategic role in creating an academic culture that is participatory, collaborative, and open to change. This approach encourages curriculum innovation, the integration of technology in learning, and the formation of graduates who are theologically grounded, digitally competent, and spiritually mature. This study contributes theoretically to the discourse on leadership in theological education while also offering practical implications for Christian educational institutions in responding to global disruption in a visionary and transformative manner.
