Makna Kata Aletheia Berdasarkan Yohanes 18:37 dan Implementasinya dalam Kehidupan Orang Percaya di Era Post-Truth

The digital age, with its post-truth character, has reshaped the understanding of truth, displacing objective facts with emotions, ideological interests, and subjective narratives, including in religious life. The Christian confession of faith in truth faces serious challenges, making Jesus' testimony about aletheia in John 18:37 relevant for re-examination. This study investigates the theological significance of aletheia in John 18:37 and its ramifications for believers in the contemporary post-truth context. It employs a qualitative method, using a literature review approach, through interpretive-theological analysis of biblical texts, Greek lexicons, biblical commentaries, theological literature, and contemporary studies. The study concludes that aletheia cannot be diminished to propositional truth; instead, it is perceived as a divine reality that is incarnational, relational, and exemplified in the person of Jesus Christ. This understanding provides a relevant theological framework for responding to the crisis of truth in the post-truth era, characterized by relativism, the dominance of emotion, and the fragmentation of authority. This study emphasizes the importance of Christian witness rooted in integrity, honesty, and spiritual sensitivity.
Abstrak
Era digital dengan karakter post-truth telah menggeser pemahaman tentang kebenaran, di mana fakta objektif dikalahkan oleh emosi, kepentingan ideologis, dan narasi subjektif, termasuk dalam kehidupan beriman. Pengakuan iman Kristen tentang kebenaran menghadapi tantangan serius, sehingga kesaksian Yesus mengenai aletheia dalam Yohanes 18:37 menjadi sangat relevan untuk ditelaah kembali. Penelitian ini mengkaji makna teologis aletheia dalam Yohanes 18:37 dan implikasinya bagi kehidupan orang percaya di era post-truth. Menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka melalui analisis teks Alkitab, leksikon Yunani, komentar biblika, serta literatur teologis dan kajian kontemporer secara interpretatif-teologis. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa aletheia tidak hanya dapat dianggap sebagai kebenaran yang sederhana, tetapi harus dipahami sebagai realitas ilahi yang hadir dalam hubungan. Pemahaman ini memberikan dasar teologis yang penting untuk menghadapi masalah kebenaran di zaman post-truth, yang ditandai oleh pandangan-pandangan yang meragukan. Studi ini menegaskan pentingnya kesaksian hidup Kristen yang berakar pada integritas, kejujuran, dan kepekaan rohani.
