Integritas Pastoral dan Kritik terhadap Materialisme Religius Analisis Teologis 1 Timotius 6:3–12
Abstrak
This study examines Paul’s theological framework of pastoral integrity in 1 Timothy 6:3–12, particularly in response to religious materialism and distorted teaching in the early Christian community. The research aims to reconstruct Paul’s pastoral theology by exploring the relationship between doctrinal integrity, spiritual discipline, and ethical leadership. Using a qualitative exegetical and theological approach, the study analyzes key Greek concepts such as hygiainousin logois (sound words), porismos (religion as a means of gain), autarkeia (contentment), and the imperatives pheuge (flee), di?ke (pursue), and ag?nizou (fight). The findings indicate that Paul presents a model of pastoral leadership grounded in active spiritual discipline and moral integrity. These imperatives form a framework of “active asceticism,” calling ministers to resist materialistic temptation, pursue Christ-centered virtues, and persevere in the struggle of faith. Consequently, pastoral integrity emerges not merely as a personal virtue but as a theological vocation shaped by eschatological commitment and sustained through sound teaching.
Abstrak
Penelitian ini mengkaji kerangka teologis Paulus mengenai integritas pastoral dalam 1 Timotius 6:3–12, khususnya sebagai respons terhadap materialisme religius dan penyimpangan ajaran dalam komunitas Kristen mula-mula. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merekonstruksi teologi pastoral Paulus dengan menelaah relasi antara integritas doktrinal, disiplin spiritual, dan kepemimpinan etis. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif eksegetis dan teologis, penelitian ini menganalisis konsep-konsep kunci Yunani seperti hygiainousin logois (ajaran yang sehat), porismos (agama sebagai sarana keuntungan), autarkeia (kecukupan diri), serta imperatif pheuge (larilah), di?ke (kejar-lah), dan ag?nizou (berjuanglah). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Paulus menghadirkan model kepemimpinan pastoral yang berakar pada disiplin spiritual yang aktif dan analitis. Imperatif-imperatif tersebut membentuk suatu kerangka “asketisme aktif” yang menggil pelayan Tuhan untuk menolak godaan materialisme, mengejar kebajikan yang berpusat pada Kristus, serta bertekun dalam pergumulan iman. Dengan demikian, integritas pastoral tidak hanya merupakan kebajikan pribadi, tetapi juga panggilan teologis yang dibentuk oleh komitmen eskatologis dan dipelihara melalui ajaran yang sehat.
